Multi-application, one solution

Small production crews, limited budgets and tight turnaround times mean that a simple two-camera shoot can be stressful, even for experienced operators. Recording or streaming with an on-site live switcher allows you to present the customer with immediate delivery, and the V-02HD makes the whole process fast, easy and smooth for the operator.

The V-02HD takes the HDMI output from two cameras and seamlessly switches to a connected livestreaming recorder or encoder . The operator can then switch between cameras using dedicated controls or even using their feet, via an attached footswitch that allows them to continue operating their camera. Audio from cameras and external sources can be mixed inside the V-02HD and monitored through the dedicated headphone output. Finally, the resulting mix is embedded with the video switch and output to HDMI. The V-02HD turns a two-camera shoot into a small one-person production studio for reliable recording or live-streaming with even minimal resources.

Switching sources in a small presentation can be a pain, whether it's from loss of signal on the primary display or the computer's inability to handle unexpected input signals. The V-02HD ensures professional switching between computers and displays , maintaining high-resolution "pixel-accurate" display resolution with a 10-bit 4:4:4 color space. With simple two-button operation, anyone can do professional multi-source switching, even if you're using the V-02HD for the first time.

Input/output pairing

Having two HDMI-equipped devices doesn't mean they're compatible, especially when it comes to video signals in a variety of resolutions; for example, the output of a tablet may not display correctly on the receiving display. With both input and output scalers , the V-02HD can accept SD, HD and computer resolutions, before scaling them to fit the display and then outputting in a new resolution that is compatible with the receiving device.

Embed or de-embed?

The Roland V-02HD AV mixer not only allows you to embed analog audio into an HDMI signal for recording or live streaming, you can also extract the audio from an HDMI signal for sending to a larger dedicated audio mixer . Where many converters only support digital audio, or offer embedding or de-embedding (and not both), the V-02HD lets you do it all.

Built-in toolkit to fix audio

The V-02HD has three-band EQ and onboard dynamics , so you can instantly tweak your audio without having to send it to an external mixer. A built-in effects library is packed with presets for common production scenarios, including interviews, ambient sound recording, and eliminating wind noise when shooting outdoors. These tools also work with inline HDMI signals, so you can fix your audio problems without leaving the digital domain.

When you just need an extra input

It's frustrating when your switcher needs an extra input and you're out of options. With two ultra-low latency inputs , the V-02HD provides that valuable extra connection without adding any perceivable delay to camera inputs. And with the high-resolution 10-bit 4:4:4 color space , there's no signal degradation either.

Incorporate professional effects in real time

While adding effects through your editing package is getting easier, more complex effects, such as blurring a person's face for privacy reasons, take time and in-depth knowledge of video-editing software. Or you could just add the effect directly to the camera output and record the result. The V-02HD has 14 visual effects that can be applied in real time , with adjustable parameters for fine-tuning the results plus 5 other compositing effects so you can add titles, use a green screen with the Key effect, or create a separate window with PinP capability.

Imagine your backup plan

When an input source fails to present or a new speaker arrives but isn't ready to present, the last thing you want to see is a blank screen; or worse, content that was not meant to be shared. You can be ready with a freeze frame loaded into the V-02HD positioned between a switcher that has no freeze frame capability and the output display. Just switch to freeze frame in an emergency.

The V-02HD remote control application turns your iPad into a touch interface for the V-02HD. You can operate the V-02HD's switch functions, mix audio with the virtual faders, quickly change effect settings and parameters, and create up to eight custom scenes for quick set-up changes using preset memories. You can also save and restore system settings of the V-02HD using the Remote Control Utility .
