Almost all modern cameras and digital video devices use HDMI, the most common AV connector on the planet. The V-8HD seamlessly blends eight HDMI sources with Full HD support, even when the sources have mismatched frame rates and color spaces. And with built-in scalers on two of the HDMI inputs , you can easily interface with customer-supplied sources such as computers, tablets, smartphones, game consoles and legacy 4:3 devices.

Presenters' trusted monitors, livestreams and recording feeds often require different visual content than the main program output. The V-8HD features assign buttons to send any connected input device to a dedicated aux output without affecting the main feed. It's also possible to synchronize the aux out with the program out, giving you a built-in 2x distribution amplifier. And by adding the UVC-01 USB Video Capture Interface , you have a plug-and-play solution for sending video and audio to computer-based streaming platforms, from Facebook Live, YouTube, Twitch and Zoom to OBS Studio, StreamYard and other streams of advanced work.

Built-in Multi-Viewer display

The V-8HD's bright 4.3-inch multi-viewer display means less gear to buy and haul to the gig. You can monitor all eight video inputs, PGM and PVW plus the menu overlay from a single screen, and input windows let you keep track of the camcorder's recording status and embedded audio levels. If you prefer, you can connect a large external display for an immense multi-viewer experience that lets you make menu changes without taking your attention away from the action.

A crystal clear audio mix is essential for professional presentations. This is easy to achieve with the V-8HD, allowing professionals and beginners alike to create engaging mixes that sound great. The 18-channel studio audio mixer mixes signals from the eight HDMI inputs and stereo RCA inputs, while a feature-rich preset effects library provides settings for everyday production environments such as meetings and interviews, as well as demanding situations that require reduction wind noise and microphone de-essing. Delay is also available on each input channel, so your audio and video sources will always be in perfect sync.

Automated video switching

The Roland V-8HD makes your job easier with three technology-assisted automatic switching modes. Input Scan switches input sources randomly or sequentially, while Preset Memory Scan switches between preset memories. BPM (beats per minute) sync is also available, which automatically switches Preview and Program at a specified tempo for close synchronization with musical cues.

Many technical elements contribute to a successful registration. But forgetting to hit the record button means the difference between getting paid for work or not. Via HDMI, you can activate Atomos recorders to start and stop recording. And some camcorders even display a recording confirmation icon on the input channel of the V-8HD's multi-viewer screen, letting you keep an eye on recording status while you focus on other critical tasks.

The dedicated V-8HD remote control application turns an iPad into an efficient touch interface for the V-8HD. Perform essential switching functions, mix audio with virtual faders, quickly change effect settings and parameters, and create up to 24 custom scenes for quick and efficient setup changes.

Hands-free control and switching

Press a single or double BOSS footswitch to execute over 100 different switch commands. Cut to a still image, PIP transition on/off on screen, or key a third title down. It is also possible to switch the aux output between presenter notes and stage manager messages, activate/deactivate automatic switching mode and much more.
