The Roland VR-4HD AV mixer features broadcast-grade studio-grade controls and switches that provide more accurate and faster operation than computer-style keyboard and mouse-based interfaces. The ability to simultaneously switch video with the push of a button and adjust audio with the push of a fader is invaluable and puts all essential features at the operator's fingertips. The built-in multi-view screen also doubles as a touch screen interface for accessing set-up parameters, making it extremely easy to adjust picture-in-picture settings by dragging the inset window onto the screen.

Support for all video sources

Roland's VR-4HD has three dedicated HDMI input connectors that are compatible with a variety of equipment and support 1080p/1080i/720p video resolution. The fourth input includes a scaler to support both video and computer resolutions, and also supports RGB and component analog input so older devices can be used as sources without the need for external conversion equipment.

Both progressive and interlaced signals can be input allowing the use of 1080i and 1080p signals at the same time . Video signals input from a PC are displayed accurately thanks to progressive signal processing. HDCP is supported for input of copy-protected content from devices such as Blu-ray Disc players.

Composite effects

The VR-4HD includes DSK (Downstream Keying), Picture-in-Picture (PinP), Split and Quad compositing effects ideal for creating broadcast-style news and corporate presentation content. The DSK function is great for superimposing titles, song lyrics or logos onto incoming video sources that can be switched to background while the text or images remain displayed. DSK supports both Luminance Keying (Black / White) and Chroma Keying (Blue / Green) to compose two videos into one screen using Picture-in-Picture, or to use the split function - ideal for seminars and presentations.

Great video with great audio

Getting great audio for video productions is easy with the Roland VR-4HD mixer, which features Roland's award-winning digital signal processing and advanced features including auto-mixing, echo cancellation and delay for perfect lip-syncing between audio and videos. The VR-4HD's audio mixer can mix the four XLR microphone, stereo RCA and 1/8 mini plug inputs together with the embedded audio in the four HDMI inputs. The final mix can be output via XLR, RCA and also embedded into the HDMI output.

A unique audio loop-back capability is included in the USB 3.0 port which can bring audio from a connected PC using conferencing software, such as Skype, and return the audio back to the PC without any howl or echo thanks to the cancel function of the echo included. This makes the VR-4HD an ideal web conferencing tool that allows you to use multiple video and audio sources with free online web conferencing software.

The included Auto-Mixing feature makes mixing multiple conference speakers and panels simple and easy by automatically managing microphone levels between different people talking. and can also prioritize volume Volume priority can be assigned to an event moderator who can always be heard above the other participants.

USB 3.0 for recording and streaming

Recording or webcasting from Roland's VR-4HD is easily accomplished by connecting to a PC or Mac using the built-in USB 3.0 connection. The VR-4HD can output uncompressed resolution up to 1080p. The VR-4HD embeds the audio mix with the video program and delivers at the selected resolution .

The free VR Video Capture application for Mac and PC provides an easy and effective way to capture uncompressed video with high resolution audio. The VR Video Capture application can also capture compressed video for easy and instant delivery of content to online video sites or internal corporate servers.

Remote control

RCS VR-4HD software is designed to control the VR-4HD using a computer. By connecting the VR-4HD to your computer via USB, you will be able to copy (backup) settings or update the system software of the VR-4HD, as well as control the unit remotely from your computer.

The VR-4HD can be controlled remotely from a computer, touch panel or other external control device via RS-232C. It also features a D-Sub 9-pin TALLY/GPIO connector . In addition to tally input/output functions, this provides functionality for control signal input and output, and you can use it to transmit and receive.
