Roland XS-1HD matrix switcher

The Roland XS-1HD is a versatile and compact switcher with multi-screen output and video compositing . A multi-format matrix switcher with extremely compact dimensions (like a 13" PC) and equipped with a scaler that supports up to FullHD resolution (1080p), 4 HDMI inputs and outputs and three different operating modes.

Exhibitions

The XS-1HD can switch video from up to four sources such as cameras, computers or media players and assign them freely to LCD displays or projectors. The scaler built into each input allows you to adjust the position or zoom even if the input video signals have different formats. Since an EDID emulator is built in , the correct resolution will be sent from the computers to the switcher. Sending can be instantly changed to any screen by recalling previously saved preset memories while the event is running or when appropriate for the situation.

Live events and conferences

Matrix mode switches to a total of four output destinations , such as a primary display, secondary display, presenter monitor, and general information digital signage. Switcher mode is convenient when the operator requires traditional real-time switching capability with multiview preview, PinP, key-compositing, and fade transitions.

Conference rooms with multiple screens

Built-in scalers and multiple operating modes make it ideal for use in event spaces, handling ever-changing input source types and resolutions, and easily adapting to different output destination requirements. HDCP compliance makes it indispensable when customers want to playback HDCP-protected HDMI signals from sources such as Blu-ray or smartphones. Still images can be loaded from USB and are ideal for conveniently displaying logos.

Multiple images on display

By displaying multiple images such as PowerPoint, video or TV conference on one screen, you can avoid the hassle of switching between images. This is also a convenient way to compare information from multiple presenters. The XS-1HD features a split mode that allows you to view up to four images side by side , as shown here. Since the screen layout can be changed with a simple touch, it can also be used by those who are not experienced in using the equipment.

Cross point buttons

These buttons select the input channel for each output. The vertical columns correspond to the entrance and the horizontal lines to the exit. The buttons are lit white when a video signal is present .

Quick edit

This feature allows you to adjust the video or audio from the operation panel without having to enter the menu . You can control settings such as image position and scaling, position of PinP windows, and audio volume.

HDMI input/output

The HDMI connectors allow video and audio (stereo) input and output. An EDID emulator and scaler are integrated for each input ; HDCP is also supported, allowing you to switch even rights-protected content.

USB memory port

Roland XS-1HD matrix switcher settings can be saved to a USB stick. Through the same port, you can also upload still images and view them instantly when needed.

Audio in out

There is stereo line-level input and output , which can be mixed with audio input via HDMI. Audio embedding and de-embedding and audio delay to adjust lip-syncing are supported.

Remote control

Serial control is enabled. You can collaborate with other switchers and mixers and control the matrix switcher from the outside.

Matrix Mode

Four video input signals can be switched individually to one of the four outputs . Since a scaler is provided for each of the four inputs, a mix of video devices such as cameras, PCs, media players, Blu-ray discs or smartphones can be connected. You can switch between videos by fading in/out and adjust the desired transition time with the TIME knob.

Mode switcher

This mode allows you to use a crossfade to switch seamlessly from one source to another , or to use PinP or key-compositing. A multi-view input preview can be output from HDMI OUT 4 to confirm input sources during unit operation.*1 If you are not using PinP or key dialing, you can use an AUX bus to output a separate video signal to a trusted monitor or other destination.

Split-mode

This mode composes multiple videos into one screen for output . You can compose up to three small screenshots into one background video. The position, size and layering order of inserted screens can be set individually. This is useful when you need to show multiple videos at the same time, such as when recording e-learning content or presentations.

High quality 10-bit 4:4:4 processing

The XS-1HD uses 10-bit RGB/YPbPr 4:4:4 signal processing , ensuring that the quality of incoming video sources is maintained on the output display, especially with data sources. Video streamed to a large LED display or projector is output with clarity and sharpness.

Digital audio mixer

Allows you to mix HDMI audio and analog stereo input . There's also an "audio follow" feature that switches audio in sync with video transitions.

Internal scalers

Each video input has a scaler that can be set individually . The resolution of the incoming video input is automatically adapted to the output resolution. The output video can be zoomed in up to a maximum of 1000.0% and zoomed out to 10.0% in detailed 0.1% increments, allowing the video to be scaled correctly for viewing.

Test pattern generator

A test pattern can be generated to adjust the video output to a projector or large LED display . A selection of various patterns are available, including color bars, crosshatch, and ramp. Also included is an animation feature that scrolls the displayed model diagonally.

EDID emulator

You can avoid connection problems between video devices by specifying the desired EDID format. This is convenient in situations such as banquets or halls, where the computer connected to the XS-1HD is changed during the event.

Memories

The current switcher setting can be saved in one of sixteen memories . Settings can be saved for specific scenes or configurations and easily recalled when needed.
