The Roland XS-62S is a compact 1U rackmount 6-channel video switcher with audio mixer and PTZ camera control capabilities for both fixed installations and on-site events. This powerful integrated solution supports a wide range of applications, including presentation and performance and special event venues, corporate AV conferencing, e-learning classrooms and more. The XS-62S is a large space-saving unit that is easy to control from the front panel buttons and menu screen, or from a PC or Mac using Real-Time Remote Control (RCS) software.

Performance Venue / Church

The Roland XS-62S HD Video Switcher is the ideal solution for hotel meeting and banquet halls, houses of worship and live performance venues. The Matrix mode of XS-62S makes it easy to send different content to 2 or 3 screen destinations , from a single switcher, while mixing program audio and controlling PTZ cameras remotely.
PGM/PST mode works like a traditional switcher complete with cross-dissolve switching and Aux bus delegation for sending different video to a secondary destination such as a trusted presenter monitor or additional presentation screens.
Performance venues will greatly benefit from the built-in auto-mixing function. The auto-mixing function automatically balances incoming audio sources , such as microphones on a discussion panel, making it easier for the operator. The XS-62S audio processing also includes advanced effects such as EQ, dynamics and delay for mixing speech together with music and other audio embedded in video sources. These effects provide improved sound quality for streaming, recording, and sound reinforcement applications.

Live streaming and video conferencing

The XS-62S is also suitable for live streaming and web conferencing systems. In this type of application, you may use multiple PTZ cameras and PCs. With the XS-62S this can easily be handled by a small team or even one person. PTZ camera control eliminates the need for individual operators , as everything can be controlled from the XS-62S while video is switched by the same operator. The audio capabilities of the XS-62S make it easy to connect 4 microphones , mixing audio from computer and other video sources.
*To stream live with the XS-62S, you will need to add an encoder device with an SDI or HDMI input, from a third party vendor.

Professional user interface

The professional broadcast-quality buttons are backlit with brightness control for use in bright or dark spaces. A dedicated menu screen and volume knobs for adjusting audio are both easily accessible from the front panel. The XS-62S is designed for hands-on control and intuitive operation for any event.

PGM / PST mode

PGM/PST mode works like a traditional video switcher complete with video composites that allow multiple images to be grouped on one screen.
Compositions can be created by combining DSK for layering titles and graphics as well as PinP insets of video. Compositions can be previewed before sending to Program on the Preview output and can be sent to Program by pressing the TAKE button.
PGM/PST mode also has an AUX bus available which makes it possible to output video other than the PGM bus and PST bus to an additional target screen.

FADE MODE

Video switching and crossfading to the PGM bus are possible in Dissolve mode. Disolve mode is easily operated from the front panel and is suitable for a system where the user directly operates the main unit in a meeting or event space.
The AUX bus is also available in Dissolve mode, making it possible to output video other than the PGM bus and PST bus.
* The PST bus output is the same as the PGM bus output.

MATRIX mode

Individual video input signals can be output to three different destinations on three buses. This mode is effective for signal routing and is ideal for events and multiple screen use. Video switching is done with black flame.

Video composition

In addition to the traditional Square or Rectangle shapes, the PinP function can select Circle, Heart or Diamond shapes . The clipping of PinP and the center portion adjustment of SPLIT (Ver.2.0) are suitable for composing the long vertical screen of the smart phone. With the DSK function, you can superimpose titles, texts, logos, etc. on composite video. Both luminance key (white/black) and chroma key (blue/green) are available.

Multi-view output

The Roland XS-62S can preview all six video inputs and two still images, PGM and PVW, on a single preview monitor via the Multi-view output. Also, you can view the menu on the Multi-view display, so you can make setting changes without changing the focus from the preview display. Since version 2.5, it is possible to swap the PGM and PVW windows and change the label name from IN1 to 6.

Auto mixing

The included Auto-Mixing feature ensures the correct mix for multiple conference participants by automatically adjusting the levels of all audio sources. A priority weighting assignment can be set that is channel specific, giving the moderator or priority audio channel a higher volume level while using the Auto-Mixing feature, allowing the operator to concentrate on video switching and production .

Discreet incorporation of multi-channel audio

Assign up to eight analog audio inputs a separate audio channel embed on SDI outputs 1 and 2 to ensure a separate mix pre-effect (dry), post effect and pre fader (wet), or post effect and post fader (wet) to correct post live event audio problems. This feature is also useful for multilingual events to record voice-over or language translation to its own audio channel on a separate master.

Smart Tally

Roland's unique and proprietary wireless counting system uses a wireless LAN router connected to the XS-62S to send counting information to iOS or Android devices on the network.

Multi PTZ and remote camera control

When LAN-based PTZ cameras are called into action, take control using the XS-62S or the powerful RCS. It seamlessly integrates JVC, Panasonic, Sony, PTZOPtics, Avonic and VISCA compatible professional pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) robotic cameras to optimize workflow without the need for a dedicated controller. For a game-like experience, grab a USB gamepad and conquer a team of PTZ cameras. Instinct will guide the way as pan, tilt and zoom cameras effortlessly follow the action.
The RCS can connect to certain Canon camcorders via a LAN connection. Recording start and stop and count light are supported.

Single operator switching and simplified PTZ control

With the growing selection of robotic pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras available, you don't need to be a top-tier broadcast studio to bring this powerful and affordable technology into your video production and live streaming setups. PTZ cameras offer studio image quality and can be installed in discreet locations due to their small size and remote control operation.

Roland provides a number of solutions that make it easy to integrate PTZ cameras into common AV production workflows. The Roland XS-62S switcher includes built-in support for the world's leading PTZ camera brands, and it is even possible to mix and match brands on the same control network .

Remote control

An easy-to-use XS-62S RCS software application for Mac or PC provides setup and control information for the Roland XS-62S through a network port. Copy, store and recall memory (backup) and preset settings.
The XS-62S is equipped with an RS-232 and LAN port for remote control and operation from a touch panel or other programmable interface device.
From Ver. 2.5 it supports USB-MIDI controller and USB Gamepad to control fader and PTZ control functions.
